Bélaműhely Sound Art’s Concert Plus brings together an exciting mix of contemporary musical approaches. Electronic music styles—big beat, dubstep, drum and bass, and jungle—blend with authentic Turkish, Arab and South American rhythms, while lyrics drawing on classical, modern and folk music elements open up new dimensions for the audience.
One of the concert’s most distinctive features is active audience participation. The Conductor Game and various improvisational structures invite listeners to become participants, using their own instruments and bodies to create shared soundscapes and musical textures. This approach remains unusual on Hungary’s concert scene: music becomes an active experience, a form of experimentation and a means of communication.
Bélaműhely’s unconventional, handmade instruments—including the bicycle drum, ghetto marimbula, teknóteknő, hosepipe saxophone, bikeophone, fakutya, papírkutya and hordonka—are more than visual curiosities. Their sounds open up new possibilities, combining with traditional and electronic elements to create distinctive, organic musical textures. The concerts offer both a musical experience and an educational insight: music is a universal language that does not necessarily require the ability to read music or any previous training.
Concert Plus is an experimental yet accessible musical event that explores new ways of involving audiences and offers a fresh perspective on the intricate world of sound-making and rhythm.
More silence, less Bélaműhely…
